Scout Programme

The Mars Scout Programme was a NASA initiative to send a series of small, low-cost robotic missions to Mars, competitively selected from innovative proposals by the scientific community. The program would have had missions destined to reach Mars, and study it at low costs. These missions can use landers, winged gliders and/or balloons. Two missions are planned: the first one was Phoenix lander which fulfilled its mission in 2008, and the second, Maven was launched on November 18, 2013.
